On April 16th a group of thirteen Genzyme employees ran on behalf of NORD in the Boston Marathon. This year the runners raised $36,716.77 for NORD’s programs and services! NORD would like to thank these individuals and everyone who supported their efforts. NORD is truly inspired by the hard work and dedication these individuals have put into this project.

This dedicated group of runners has worked with NORD for a number of years, and in 2011 was honored at the NORD gala for their dedication to rare disease patients with the Partners in Progress award. The team was the first recipient of this Partners in Progress award, which honors outstanding acts of volunteerism demonstrating partnership with the rare disease patient community.

As this project has evolved, the runners have expanded their additional awareness efforts. This year, all runners ran on behalf of a patient partner. The runners also have their own unique stories and perspectives on rare diseases to share. To read more check out the runners’ blog at http://runningforrarediseases.org/.
