About Eye Bank Association of America

The Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the restoration of sight through the promotion and advancement of eye banking. An eye bank retrieves, evaluates, and distributes eyes donated for corneal transplantation, research, and education. Member eye banks around the world make possible thousands of corneal transplants annually. The cornea is the front, clear portion of the eye through which light passes. Corneal blindness is a form of visual impairment caused when the cornea becomes clouded, scarred, or misshapen. This condition may be the result of disease, infection, or injury. Established in 1961 and consisting of 108 members, EBAA promotes research and professional education and provides a newsletter, brochures, and pamphlets.
