About Patient Registries at Slone: Myeloma & MDS

The Patient Registries at Slone: Myeloma & MDS, located at the Slone Epidemiology Center at Boston University, is a voluntary research project enrolling patients recently diagnosed with multiple myeloma or myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). Multiple myeloma is a rare form of cancer that is characterized by the excessive production and improper function of the white blood cells known as plasma. Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) are a group of rare blood disorders in which the bone marrow does not make enough healthy blood cells. There are several types of these syndromes. These registries gather information on the clinical, economic, and quality of life outcomes experienced by patients on both established treatments and new modalities. This information will help doctors and researchers better understand these diseases with the goal of helping patients now and in the future.
