The Ménière's Australia, Inc., is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and advancing the interests of people with Ménière's disease, to help them improve the quality of their lives, and to have the community become more aware of the disease. Ménière's disease is a disorder characterized by recurrent prostrating dizziness (vertigo), possible hearing loss and ringing sounds (tinnitus). Established in 1981, the support group helps people with Ménière's disease adjust to the daily routine of life through counseling and advice gained from the experiences of members and other people whose expertise is considered to be of assistance. It also assists the families of affected individuals to understand their special needs. The organization works to collect and disseminate information to increase community awareness and knowledge about Ménière's disease. Program activities include a support group, patient advocacy, research, patient and professional education and referrals.
