The Hemimegalencephaly (HME) Support Group is an international parent support group based in Australia. The HME Support Group is dedicated to offering help, support, and information to parents and other family members of children affected by hemimegalencephaly, a rare brain malformation characterized by enlargement of one of the cerebral hemispheres. Associated symptoms often include early, frequent seizures that are often difficult to control and variable developmental delays. The HME Support Group works to fulfill its mission through offering information and mutual support, visiting affected families when possible, and maintaining a web site on the Internet. The organization's web site provides understandable information on hemimegalencephaly, promotes networking among affected families via e-mail, and has a guest book area for online visitors.
