The National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders, Inc., (NAANAD) is a national, non-profit, self-help organization dedicated to increasing understanding of eating disorders and to alleviating the problems of eating disorders, especially anorexia nervosa and bulimia. The association seeks to educate the general public and professionals in the health field to become more aware of eating disorders and appropriate methods of treatment. In addition, the organization encourages and promotes research to discover the causes of eating disorders, methods of prevention, and types of treatments, and to formulate relevant statistics. The National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders acts as a resource center by gathering and providing educational materials about eating disorders. Other activities sponsored by the organization include networking for mutual support, providing funds to aid those with eating disorders, and encouraging interested individuals and groups to join in seeking cures for these disorders.
