The HERS Foundation (Hysterectomy Educational Resources and Services)is a non-profit organization dedicated to the ideal that every woman should have complete, accurate information available to her about the alternatives to and consequences of hysterectomy. Established in 1982, HERS provides an initial free packet of information, counseling by telephone appointment, assistance in determining whether proper, complete evaluation of symptoms has been obtained, referral to physicians, and legal counseling as needed. HERS also networks women on a one-to-one basis worldwide. Educational materials include a newsletter, a resource list, and a HERS publication list. Translated versions are available as needed.
