AGE, the European Older People's Platform, is a non-profit network of organizations and individuals that aims to promote good policy and practice on aging in the interests of older people in the European Union. AGE represents all areas of aging policy and older people's interests, but draws its legitimacy from the fact that older people are directly represented in AGE. The organization voices and defends the interests of older and retired people in the European Union and raises awareness of the issues that truly concern them. AGE saw the light in January 2001after a two-year consultation process between the different existing European networks of older people's associations. One of its main activities is to monitor the transposition and the implementation of the anti discrimination directives in the 15 EU member states. The main underlying principle of AGE's work is the recognition of older and retired people as a resource.
