{"id":292368,"date":"2026-09-10T12:38:46","date_gmt":"2026-09-10T16:38:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rarediseases.org\/?p=292368"},"modified":"2026-09-14T15:45:45","modified_gmt":"2026-09-14T19:45:45","slug":"nord-ceo-statement-on-four-new-senior-fda-appointments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rarediseases.org\/es\/nord-ceo-statement-on-four-new-senior-fda-appointments\/","title":{"rendered":"NORD CEO Welcomes FDA Leadership Appointments, Emphasizes Stability and Innovation for Rare Diseases"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On September 8, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced the selection of four new senior leaders at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), three of which are relevant to the rare disease community:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Jared Seehafer, M.S.<\/strong>,\u00a0has been selected to serve as FDA\u2019s first Deputy Commissioner for Technology and Artificial Intelligence<\/li>\n<li><strong>Michael Davis, M.D., Ph.D.<\/strong>, has been selected as Director of the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Karim Mikhail, B.Pharm, MSc<\/strong>, has been selected as Director of the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In response to this news, National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>) CEO Pamela Gavin issued the following statement:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are pleased to see these four FDA senior leadership appointments at such a critical time for people living with rare diseases. Stability, certainty and strong leadership are essential to advancing regulatory science. Rare diseases are a significant public health issue affecting more than 30 million Americans, most of which have no approved therapy.
