Today, Rare Disease Report\u00ae<\/sup><\/strong>, the flagship property of Rare Disease Communications\u00ae<\/sup> (RDC), a growing healthcare communications and media company, and the National Organization for Rare Disorders\u00a0 (NORD)\u00ae, the leading, independent nonprofit organization committed to the identification, treatment and cure of rare diseases, announced a new editorial collaboration.<\/p>\n

The collaboration will f\"rdr\"ocus on reaching the physician and advocacy communities with important news and insight on rare diseases, according to Peter J. Ciszewski, president of RDC. \u201cBoth NORD and Rare Disease Report are leaders in providing information about orphan diseases to the rare disease community. By collaborating, Rare Disease Report brings NORD\u2019s expertise to another platform of clinicians and other stakeholders,\u201d said Ciszewski.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis collaboration combines NORD\u2019s leadership in driving progress to help America\u2019s 30 million rare disease patients and their families \u2013 two-thirds of whom are children \u2013 and Rare Disease Report\u2019s success in reporting on the latest news and events in rare diseases,\u201d said Peter L. Saltonstall, President and CEO of NORD.\u00a0 \u201cWe look forward to sharing our expertise and that of our more than 230 member organizations.\u201d<\/p>\n

Each edition of the Rare Disease Report\u2122 print publication will feature a new NORD column, titled, \u201cVoice of the Community.\u201d\u00a0 NORD will work with its more than 230 member organizations that represent disease-specific patient communities to provide the content.\u00a0 Information provided by NORD will also appear on a designated page on Rare Disease Report\u2019s website.<\/p>\n

\u201cNORD wants to help the community of stakeholders better understand the patient perspective and the critical issues in rare diseases,\u201d added Saltonstall.<\/p>\n

Both parties hope that better patient care and increased understanding of rare diseases will result from their collaboration.<\/p>\n
