NORD is deeply concerned about the \u201cPromising Pathway Act\u201d recently introduced in both the Senate and the House. Contrary to the stated goal of giving patients with serious and life-threatening diseases a \u201cchance at receiving meaningful treatments,\u201d this legislation, by its own terms, would lower FDA\u2019s approval standards, exposing patients to unsafe and ineffective medicines. Rare disease patients deserve access to innovative, safe, and effective medicines. Just as we have since we fought for the enactment of the 1983 Orphan Drug Act, NORD will continue to advocate for productive ways to fulfill this goal.
