I faced lot of challenges both socially and academically throughout my life. However, with a lot of love from my mother and godly mentors, I was able to overcome many of those struggles. I graduated with four science degrees in community college and taught at a private school as a preschool teacher. These achievements were both dreams come true. Later in life\u00a0<\/span>I was diagnosed with\u00a0<\/span>Klinefelter and Di<\/span>Ge<\/span>orge\u00a0<\/span>syndrome. Rare<\/span>\u00a0Disease Day is important to me because I believe that h<\/span>aving a rare disease d<\/span>oes not\u00a0<\/span>define who you are<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0it challenges you to go the extra mile<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>We in the rare community<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>are all awesome people with\u00a0<\/span>great potential<\/span>!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To those outside of the rare community without a rare disease, I would ask that you l<\/span>ook at us with compassion and an\u00a0<\/span>outstretched<\/span>\u00a0heart<\/span>. As a member of the rare community, I will be showing my stripes this Rare Disease Day by<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>reaching out to\u00a0<\/span>others<\/span>\u00a0with rare disorders<\/span>!\u00a0<\/span>I have two beautiful nieces with DiGeorge and Down syndrome<\/span> whom I will celebrate by reaching out to<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
