Student Chapter Program

This program, designed for medical, pharmacy and genetic counseling students, strives to prepare students for their future career within the rare disease space. With the guidance of NORD, the students are building professional partnerships, career prospects, and knowledge on rare diseases. Students will learn about issues from diagnostic challenges, technological advances, clinical trials and the importance of the patient voice.

Program Details

  • Chapters will have opportunities to participate in NORD advocacy and education projects
  • Students in chapters have a chance to receive a scholarship to attend the NORD’s Rare Disease & Orphan Product Breakthrough Summit
  • NORD can help you identify local patient/caregiver speakers for campus events
  • NORD can promote awareness of chapter events via social media and newsletters
  • Chapter leaders will receive a monthly newsletter with volunteer, networking, and career opportunities

Program Details

Requirements

– Promote rare disease awareness and education on campus
– Support NORD and educational initiatives on behalf of patients
– Submit annual reports to NORD briefly summarizing their activities
– Registered organization at institution
–  1 Faculty Adviser
– 3 Student Leaders
– Host 3 events each year, including a Rare Disease Day event
