About ALS Association-Greater Philadelphia Chapter
The mission of the ALS Association, Greater Philadelphia Chapter, is to help people live with ALS, to advocate for ALS caregivers and patients, and to support research into the cause, treatment, and cure of ALS. In addition to raising funds for research and providing patient/family support, the chapter is involved in raising public awareness and educating the lay and healthcare communities about this disease. Also known as Lou Gehrig disease, ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) is a rapidly progressive, invariably fatal, neurological disease that attacks the nerve cells responsible for controlling voluntary muscles.
