About American Association for Klinefelter Syndrome Information and Support

The American Association for Klinefelter Syndrome Information and Support (AAKSIS) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization incorporated in Illinois. AAKSIS (pronounced “access”) is a national voluntary organization with the mission of education, support, research and understanding of XXY and its variants, collectively known as Klinefelter syndrome. This disorder, characterized by the presence of an extra X chromosome, causes impaired function of the testes in males. AAKSIS supports greater awareness and understanding among the general public, medical profession, and affected men and their families through education and sharing of information about this medical condition and its effects. Established in 2000, the organization sponsors national and regional meetings, maintains a 24-hour hotline and web site, and publishes a newsletter and other informational materials.
