About American Society of Transplantation

The American Society of Transplantation (AST) is an organization of transplant professionals dedicated to research, education, advocacy and patient care in transplantation science and medicine. The American Society of Transplantation comprises 1,300 transplant physicians and scientists within the specialties of nephrology, gastroenterology, immunology, cardiology, pulmonology, surgery and pediatrics, who are in private practice and university settings with an active interest in transplantation medicine. These physicians are active in research and the management of transplants patients from the onset of end-stage disease to post-transplantation. These physicians are integral members of the “transplant team” and in many cases, are the directors of their transplant program. AST membership also includes scientists who are involved in basic research that translates from “bench to bedside,” improving the care of transplants patients.
