About Answering T.T.P. (Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura) Foundation
Answering T.T.P (Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura) Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide support resources to the TTP community. Their goals are: to provide a forum for TTP patients and supporters to share their strength, hope and experience; to raise awareness and public support for TTP; to maintain an information platform that disseminates information to a geographically dispersed community; to provide information about access to the safest and most effective treatments; to develop and distribute TTP education materials that may speed diagnosis and save lives; and to provide fundraising guidance and support that will one day result in research that finds a cure for TTP. TTP is a rare, serious blood disorder. A severe decrease in the number of blood platelets (thrombocytopenia) and abnormal destruction of red blood cells (hemolytic anemia) are hallmarks of the disorder. Potentially fatal complications can result from internal blood clotting (thrombosis), with damage to critical organs such as the brain, heart and kidneys. A decrease in the enzyme, ADAMTS 13, has been associated with the condition in some cases, but the exact cause of TTP is unknown.
