About Stickler Syndrome Support Group

The Stickler Syndrome Support Group (SSG) is a voluntary health organization located in the United Kingdom. The group is dedicated to raising awareness among the general public and medical professionals. Stickler syndrome is a genetic disorder that affects the body’s collagen (connective tissue), particularly the joints, eyes, palate, heart, and hearing. The disorder is extremely variable from case to case. It is characterized by possible vision problems, hearing loss, early arthritis, cleft palate, and heart murmurs. The support group offers information and support to affected individuals and families and to professionals with an interest in Stickler syndrome, and produces a range of publications on different aspects of the disorder. Through the group’s quarterly newsletter, members can share experiences and keep abreast of advances in medical research.
