NORD Named Charity of the Week By The Week Magazine

Categorized in -

The weekThis past week, the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) was named “charity of the week” by The Week magazine. Each charity featured in The Week has earned a four-star rating from Charity Navigator, which rates non-profits on the strength of their finances, control of development and administrative finances, and transparency of their operations. Four stars is the highest rating that Charity Navigator provides.

The Week recognized NORD for its work to identify, treat and help advance cures for medical conditions that often receive too little attention or research funding.  The Week highlighted NORD’s patient assistance programs, which began in the 1980s to help patients with rare and chronic diseases access treatments and clinical trials they could not otherwise  afford, its research grant program, and work to collaborate with patient organizations and companies working to create products for rare disease patients.
