Since 1971, A New Leaf has provided assistance to those most in need in our community, helping families, children, and adults overcome the challenges they face.

A New Leaf offers 7 distinct pillars of service: domestic violence, housing and shelter, family support, health & wellness, foster care, education, and financial empowerment.

Communities are made stronger when families are safe, have a secure home, are able to provide for themselves and their children, and are ultimately given a chance to make a brighter future for themselves.

By offering these seven pillars of service, A New Leaf is helping households move from crisis to stability, making our community a better place to live.

Access Crisis Intervention (ACI) provides access to services for individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis.  ACI will provide an opportunity for individuals to receive necessary behavioral health crisis services in an effort to reduce unnecessary interventions such as hospitalization or detentions. By calling the ACI hotline, individuals have access to behavioral health crisis services that are free and available to both youth and adults.

• All calls are strictly confidential.
• ACI hotlines are staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by behavioral health professionals who are available to provide assistance.
• Assistance may include phone contact, referrals to resources in the community, next day behavioral health appointments, or a mobile response.  Mobile is defined as either going to the location of the crisis, or to another secure community location.

Access Services provides behavioral health services, children & family services, and intellectual disability and autism services for 14 counties in eastern Pennsylvania. Our mission is to empower and serve people in need of specialized supports by providing innovative services that improve their ability to live fulfilling lives in the community.

Adanta is one of 14 community mental health centers operating across the state. Our services are payable by Medicare, Commercial Insurance, Medicaid, and via self-pay. We are also a contract vendor for the Department for Behavioral Health, Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities.

Adanta is charged with serving the mental health, substance abuse and intellectual and developmental disability needs of individuals within Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, McCreary, Pulaski, Russell, Taylor, and Wayne Counties.

Adanta’s mission is to enhance lives by promoting recovery and wellness through person centered care. We meet this mission through comprehensive programs and services designed for children/adolescents, adults, and families.

ACCA is a non-profit agency that has served the Fairbanks community since 1946. It began with a grassroots community effort to assist people needing orthopedic referrals and equipment as well as speech therapy. The agency was known as ‘Alaska Crippled Children and Adults’ and was associated with the Easter Seals Society. In 1998, the agency adopted a new name, ‘Alaska Center for Children and Adults’. Over the years, programs for individuals with disabilities has expanded to support many areas of the state of Alaska.

Our Mission

To assist in improving the lives of people with disabilities and their families by providing quality diagnostic, therapeutic, educational and referral services in conjunction with other community providers without regard to ability to pay.

Programs

• Connections DDRC: assists individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families with accessing services through the State of Alaska Developmental Disabilities (DD) Programs.
• FASD Community Evaluation & Service: the FASD Diagnostic Team serves children experiencing difficulties related to prenatal exposure to alcohol. Services include screening and multidisciplinary evaluations leading to diagnosis and recommendations for intervention.
• Family Wellness: the Family Wellness program identifies social, emotional, and parent/child relationship concerns prior to age 8 and aims to provide early support to build positive relationships. ACCA provides screening, evaluation, developmental guidance, and community referrals to support children in the context of their family relationships. Services are provided by an Infant Mental Health Endorsed Developmental Specialist.
• Infant Learning Program: ACCA’s Infant Learning Program (ILP) provides early intervention services to children birth to three years who experience a developmental delay or disability, with a focus on supporting and strengthening the whole family.
• Loan Closet: adaptive mobility equipment is available for loan to community members. A deposit is required, but is refundable if equipment is returned within 3 months. After 3 months, the deposit will become a donation to ACCA. All equipment rentals include a $5, non-refundable cleaning fee.

Arizona Youth Partnership builds solid foundations for youth and families by partnering with Arizona communities to prevent and solve local issues such as substance abuse, youth homelessness, lack of educational opportunities, teen pregnancy, and challenging family dynamics.

AZYP was founded in 1990 by a group of concerned Pima County citizens who sought to provide rural communities in the county access to the services available in the Tucson metro area. In 2006, AZYP expanded to serve rural communities across Arizona and seeks to employ a root cause approach to fighting poverty, build healthy, self-sufficient youth and families through
evidence-based prevention programs and community involvement.

Bailey House has been providing housing and supportive services for people living with HIV/AIDS and other chronic illness for more than three decades. We help people of all ages and backgrounds, including LGBTQ folks, veterans, and families, find homes and the support they need to get and stay healthy, and live a full life. Our portfolio of congregate and scatter site housing and wrap-around support services reaches thousands of New Yorkers in need each year.

The Bert Nash Center (BNC) is the designated community mental health center & the certified community behavioral health clinic (CCBHC) for Douglas County, KS. Our mission  is to advance the health of the Douglas County community through comprehensive behavioral health services responsive to evolving needs and changing environments. We fulfill this mission by responding to needs, restoring lives, and building a healthy community. All team members of the Bert Nash Center are committed to living out the values of compassion, integrity, equity, on a foundation of hope in all that we do in serving those in need.

We are a community-based, not-for-profit agency providing services for individuals in Western Arkansas who have mental & developmental disabilities & related conditions. Our mission is supporting individuals with disabilities and behavioral health needs to meet their life goals. Camp Holiday Trails (CHT) is a year-round nonprofit camp in a natural setting at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Central VA. CHT incorporated as a nonprofit in 1973 and since that time has provided over 10,000 kids with medical needs the opportunity to experience a positive camp experience.  Our Campers, age 7-17, are welcomed from throughout the United States with the majority coming from the Mid-Atlantic region. Many campers have multiple diagnoses, including cancer, diabetes, sickle cell, hemophilia, juvenile arthritis, or are recipients of transplants.

Center for Child Counseling is building the foundation for playful, healthful, and hopeful living for children, families, and communities.

Our programs and expertise, spanning from prenatal to age 18, is grounded in research about early brain development and the impact of adversity and trauma on development, family systems, and generations. Violence and abuse in the earliest years of life are forms of “toxic stress” that can fundamentally change the developing brain, impacting wellness in adolescence and throughout the lifespan.

Central Kansas Mental Health Center is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, and is designated as the Local Mental Health Authority for the following counties:  Saline, Dickinson, Ellsworth, Ottawa, and Lincoln. We are state and local leaders in the field of mental health, staying current on best practices proven to get results.  We accept health insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, Tricare but we also offer financial aid to make sure everyone has access to mental health services offering discounts based on ability to pay.

We are licensed by the Kansas Department of Human Services as a community mental health center. There are 26 community mental health centers across Kansas, each assigned a geographic area of the state, and collectively we provide the statewide mental health system.

Besides outpatient therapy (including individual, marital, family and group therapy) we provide medication management, psychiatry, 24/7 crisis intervention services, social-emotional skill building groups, community based case management,  respite and attendant care, supported employment, peer support, parent resources, wrap around supports, integrated care coordination, psychological evaluations, and access to our Martin Youth Center (including a 72 hour youth crisis stabilization house and suspension alternative program).

Cheyanna’s Champions 4 Children (CC4C) enhances the lives of children battling rare and undiagnosed conditions in Texas. We achieve this by giving children and families access to mental health and wellness programs, providing financial assistance, and giving them access to events and experiences that would otherwise be impossible.

Communicare is one of fourteen community Kentucky mental health centers providing behavioral health, developmental disabilities and substance abuse services in the Lincoln Trail ADD District. Cumberland River Behavioral Health is a nonprofit community mental health center whose mission is to ensure all members of our community an opportunity to achieve their highest potential for living satisfying, productive, and valued lives.

We are dedicated to planning and providing quality mental health, developmental and intellectual disabilities, and substance use services in our eight county service area, including Bell, Clay, Harlan, Jackson, Knox, Laurel, Rockcastle, and Whitley counties.

The Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) envisions wellness for people living with mood disorders (depression and bipolar disorder). DBSA provides hope, help, support, and education to improve the lives of people who have mood disorders. 

DBSA offers peer-based, wellness-oriented support and empowering services and resources available when people need them, where they need them, and how they need to receive them- online, in local support groups, in audio and video casts, or in printed materials distributed by DBSA, our chapters and mental health care facilities across America.

MD Family Supports Waiver provides personal supports, respite care services, support broker services, assistive technology and services, behavioral support services, environmental assessment, environmental modifications, family and peer mentoring supports, family caregiver training and empowerment services, housing support services, individual and family directed goods and services, nurse case management and delegation services** ending March 2021**, nurse consultation**ending March 2021**, nursing support services, participant education, training and advocacy supports, transportation, and vehicle modifications for individuals with developmental disabilities ages 0 – 21 years of age.

Disability Rights Florida was founded in 1977 as the state’s designated Protection and Advocacy system for individuals with disabilities in the State of Florida. The Protection and Advocacy system exists to ensure the safety, wellbeing, and success of people with disabilities. Disability Rights Florida advocates, educates, investigates, and litigates to protect and advance the rights, dignity, equal opportunities, self-determination and choices for all people with disabilities.

Disability Rights Florida is a nonprofit organization that provides legal advocacy and rights protection for adults and children with a wide range of disabilities. Our staff attorneys, advocates and investigators address civil rights violations, abuse and neglect, and discrimination specifically in these areas:

• Disputes involving Medicaid eligibility including Protected Medicaid, Home and Community Based Services Waivers, and Medicare Savings Programs.
• Discrimination in housing, architectural barriers, service animals, transportation, and access to public and private programs and services.
• Abuse, neglect, and rights violations in an institution, prison, or jail.
• Rights to a least restrictive environment, privacy choice, dignity, and other basic human and civil rights.
• Barriers to a free and appropriate education, K-12 special education, transition services, and post-secondary education.
• Access to mental health and support services that provide individualized treatment including adults and students with psychiatric disabilities.
• Employment accommodations, as well as accessing, maintaining or regaining employment, and vocational rehabilitation.

Four Rivers Behavioral Health is a private, not-for-profit agency providing comprehensive, integrated mental health, substance abuse and developmental disability services to promote the health and quality of life for consumers in Ballard, Calloway, Carlisle, Fulton, Graves, Hickman, Livingston, Marshall, and McCracken counties.

The Hawai’i Health and Harm Reduction Center serves Hawai’i communities by reducing the harm and fighting the stigma of HIV, hepatitis, homelessness, substance use, mental illness, and poverty in our community. We focus our efforts on those disproportionately affected by social determinants of health, including but not limited to: people living with and/or affected by HIV, hepatitis, substance use, and the transgender, LGBQ and the Native Hawaiian communities. We foster health, wellness, and systemic change in Hawai’i and the Pacific through care services, advocacy, training, prevention, education, and capacity building.

Programs offered include case management, overdose prevention, food access, and clinical services.

The Iowa Home and Community Based (HCBS) programs are Medicaid programs where the federal government has set aside or “waived” rules. This gives you more choices about how and where you receive services. It is for people with disabilities and older Iowans who need services. These services may allow you to stay in your home. You must be eligible for Medicaid and also meet the requirements of the program you are applying for and/or receiving. An assessment will be done to determine if you meet the criteria of being in need of nursing facility, skilled nursing facility level of care, hospital level of care, or being in need of care in an intermediate care facility for persons with intellectual disabilities.

Iowa currently has seven HCBS Waivers in the Waiver Program that provides service funding and individualized supports to maintain eligible members in their own homes or communities who would otherwise require care in a medical institution.

Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) is a state-federal program whose goal is to assist people with disabilities prepare for, secure, retain or regain employment.

What VR Programs are offered?

Vocational Rehabilitation’s primary goal is employment. Vocational Rehabilitation provides individualized vocational guidance and counseling as well as other services to assist people with disabilities to make informed choices concerning their careers so that they can become successfully employed

Mental Health

Vocational Rehabilitation works closely with the Department of Health and Welfare’s Mental Health Program to provide services to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. Services are provided utilizing a team approach and are focused on assisting the mental health clientele to work in the community. Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) teams and Case Management Teams have been established around the state and VR has placed counselors with these teams to address employment issues.

Public Offenders

Vocational Rehabilitation is proactive in assisting inmates with disabilities to transition into the community by developing a program to concentrate on this clientele. Utilizing a team approach, counselors work collaboratively with the client, the Department of Probation and Parole and medical or psychological experts to re-introduce the individual to the workforce. The Division has gained a level of expertise that has resulted in a high success rate of individuals securing and maintaining employment, a savings in institutional costs and an overall net gain to the community.

Students with Disabilities

Vocational Rehabilitation works with students with disabilities who require assistance to transition from school to employment. Vocational Rehabilitation maintains relationships with schools throughout the state to serve students needing this assistance. Any student can apply directly for services without referral from the school. These individuals must meet the VR eligibility criteria.

Services for Individuals with Disabilities

The Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation’s program goal is to place Idahoans with disabilities into the workforce by securing and maintaining productive employment. IDVR can provide the services required to assist you to go to work and can assist you in locating suitable employment. Only services that you need to reach employment will be provided.

Services to individuals may include:

• Vocational guidance and counseling for adjustment to disability.
• Vocational exploration and planning for entry or re-entry into the workforce.
• Assessment to determine vocational strengths and weaknesses to plan for services required to reach the employment outcome.
• Training for those who need a career change because of disability. Such training can involve higher education, on the job training, vocational-technical training, etc.
• Tools and licenses can be provided, if needed, to enter a specific trade or profession.
• Medical assistance can be provided, if needed, to secure or maintain employment and is part of a comprehensive rehabilitation plan.
• Job development and placement involves you and your Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor working together to secure employment.
• Rehabilitation Technology can be provided to assist you in preparation for placement on the job site.
• Follow-along can be extremely important to ensure that your job is successful. Such follow-along can assist in resolving any job problems that may occur.

Services to Businesses & Professional Organizations

The Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation offers an array of services to assist you in employing individuals with disabilities so that you can maintain a qualified, productive and diverse work environment. VR is interested in assisting you to be as profitable as possible by providing cost-effective assistance when issues arise.

Some of the services available to organizations include:

• Accessibility Issues: VR can refer you to people who can assess the conditions which may create barriers to serving your clientele or employing your workforce. They can make recommendations for overcoming these barriers.
• Job Placement Resource: VR identifies community job opportunities and assists employees with disabilities to enter or re-enter the workforce.
• Qualified Job Applicant Referrals: VR provides training and counseling to thousands of individuals each year, preparing them for a myriad of jobs. VR counselors match the skills and abilities of potential employees to the specific requirements of your jobs. Qualified applicants are pre-screened to reduce your costs associated with recruitment and hiring.
• On the Job Training: VR can reimburse you for additional training time that may be needed at your place of employment to assist referred individuals with learning the specific tasks of a particular job.
• Job Coaching Services: Some employees need more individualized training than others. In these instances, VR can contract with job coaches to assist in getting your employees up to speed with specific job tasks.
• Consultation on Disability Issues: Vocational Rehabilitation professionals are available to meet with you and your staff to answer your questions concerning employing people with disabilities including:
  “How can I integrate people with disabilities into my organization?”
  “How do I work with a person who has a disability?”
  “What does it cost to hire a person with a disability?”

Cost of Services:

Because people are expected to contribute to the cost of their vocational rehabilitation program to the extent possible, you may be responsible for some costs of your rehabilitation plan. This will be based upon your individual financial need. However, no one is ever turned away because of inability to pay.

Utilizing a patient-centered, multidisciplinary, medical home approach, Indian Health Care Resource Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, offers a full range of health and wellness services tailored to the Indian community.

The mission of the Indian Health Care Resource Center of Tulsa, Inc. (IHCRC) is to provide quality, comprehensive health care to Tulsa-area Indian people in a culturally sensitive manner that promotes good health, well being and harmony.

The InterFaith Health Clinic is a non-profit health care ministry in Knoxville, Tennessee providing affordable medical care, dental care, mental health counseling, and prescription medications for the working uninsured and underserved, primarily through the support of the religious, health care and business communities. These service are provided within the capacity of the clinic regardless of race, creed, age, religion, or national origin. 

The mission of Woodward Resource Center (WRC) is to prepare and support individuals to live in the community of their choice. Discharge planning begins at admission. Individuals with intellectual disabilities and other related disabilities from throughout the state of Iowa are eligible. There are specific eligibility requirements for each type of service.

Jewish Family Services of WNC (JFS) is an inclusive, welcoming space that provides a broad range of clinical and social support services to adults of all faiths- with special emphasis on the needs of older adults and other under-served community members. Services include the following mental health counseling, case management, food pantry and crisis funding, and spiritual care programs.

The Johnson County Mental Health Center (JCMHC) contains numerous offices that provide an array of mental health services throughout Johnson County. Their services are catered towards individuals that live with varying degrees of mental illnesses, which include but are not limited to: adults with serious mental illnesses, children with serious emotional disturbance, individuals with co-occurring substance abuse disorders, and those who experience acute psychological distress that require hospitalization.

JCMHC provides the following services: substance use (i.e., cognitive behavioral therapy and trauma-informed care), emergency services (i.e., Mobile Crisis Response Team, Mental Health Co-Responder Team, Open Access, and the 988 Crisis Team), mental health, psychiatric medication services, pharmacy services, prevention services, deaf services (tailored mental health services to those who are auditorily impaired), and outpatient services for those experiencing an alcohol or opioid use disorders.

The 1st step in accessing services is to utilize their Open Access service: same-day walk-in hours at their Shawnee and Olathe locations. This coalition was established in 1982 by nine mental health organizations to support collaboration and to speak with one advocacy voice for the prevention and treatment of mental illness and the promotion of mental health. In 2003, the Kentucky Mental Health Coalition (KMHC) membership approved a reframed and broadened mission: To bring together the collective voices of consumers, family members, advocates, and providers to educate the public, to engage policy makers, and to increase the resources necessary to address the Commonwealth’s human service needs while improving the mental health and well-being of all Kentuckians. Voting membership in KMHC is limited to organizations, 80 of which are current members; individuals may also join. The member organizations pay annual dues which vary as to whether they are statewide or local and whether they are advocacy organizations, service delivery agencies, or professional associations.

KRCC belongs to and is a part of the community. Our concerns include the social and emotional health of our friends and neighbors. KRCC connects people to the services and resources they need to meet their basic needs, including housing, crisis services and health care. LifeSkills supports people with developmental disabilities and their families in planning, coordinating and developing resources that meet their unique needs and preferences. The primary mission of LifeSkills is to support people who experience mental illness, addiction and intellectual disabilities as they build meaningful and independent lives. Founded more than 130 years ago, Lunalilo Home’s vision is to be a nurturing and vibrant kauhale for all kūpuna. In fulfillment of the trust of King William Charles Lunalilo, the sixth reigning monarch of Hawai’i, our mission is to perpetuate the legacy of King William Charles Lunalilo to honor, tend to, and protect the well-being of elders. We strive to provide loving and compassionate services for kūpuna that preserve dignity and independence in a comfortable, secure and supportive environment. Lunalilo Home admits persons of Hawaiian and non-Hawaiian ancestry, while maintaining its commitment to subsidize Native Hawaiians who are unable to pay for their residence at its adult Residential Care home, to the extent allowed by available funds or financing.

Mental Health America of Central Carolinas (MHA) provides mental health programs in Mecklenburg and Cabarrus counties and surrounding areas in North Carolina. Our programs seek to raise awareness, provide support, and break stigmas associated with mental illness. Mental Health America of South Carolina (MHASC) is an affiliate of Mental Health America, a national organization founded by former psychiatric patient and Yale graduate Clifford W. Beers to expose and correct the injustices he experienced and observed during hospitalizations for a diagnosis of bipolar disorder. MHASC has served the state of South Carolina since 1954 as a private, not for profit, 501(c) 3 organization. Bridges Club House 

Bridges Clubhouse is a day treatment program for individuals with a severe and persistent mental illness. Trained clinical counselors provide community integration services to help individuals become as independent as possible and to practice wellness and coping skills to maintain their recovery.

Operation Santa 

Operation Santa is an annual holiday event for MHA-SC that started years ago in state facilities. Our efforts focus on making this time of year a little merrier for individuals in the community by ensuring they receive at least one gift.

Housing 

Mental health America of South Carolina believes that affordable housing is one of the biggest obstacles mental health consumers face. We have address this need with several affordable housing options throughout the state of South Carolina.

I.C. Hope 

The I.C. Hope “Don’t Duck Mental Health” campaign serves to dispel the negative images associated with mental illness. The friendly face of the duck with its healing bandage promises to show that mental illness is not shameful or unusual, or is it shameful to help those in need. His life preserver symbolizes that every life is worth saving.

PA Parent and Family Alliance is a state-wide program of the Allegheny Family Network. At the PAT Parent and Family Alliance, we’ve designed one-of-a-kind, no-cost resources for parents whose children are experiencing mental health challenges because we believe that parents are the best advocates for their children.

We support parents in three ways:

1. Individualized support from a Family Support Partner (FSP). This unique resource pairs parents with Family Support Partners- professional resource navigators who share the lived experience managing their child’s mental health challenge. Family Support Partners provide intensive, 1:1 confidential support to parents to work through their toughest challenges, free of charge.
2. Support Groups. We host weekly online support groups where parents can connect to share their experiences and advice with one another.
3. Information and Resources. We develop fact sheets, articles, webinars, and trainings to equip parents with the knowledge they need to navigate their child’s mental health challenge.

The Pennsylvania Student Assistance Program (SAP) is a systematic team process used to mobilize school resources to remove barriers to learning. SAP is designed to assist in identifying issues including alcohol, tobacco, other drugs, and mental health issues which pose a barrier to a student’s success. The primary goal of the Student Assistance Program is to help students overcome these barriers so that they may achieve, advance, and remain in school. While Student Assistance Programs exist in other areas of the country, the structure and operation of the program in Pennsylvania is a unique expression of an integrated model serving the needs of Pennsylvania families and students.

Supports for Community Living (SCL) is a home and community based wavier under the Kentucky Medicaid program and was developed for Kentucky residents as an alternative to institutional care for an individual with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. REACH of Louisville provides host homes, day training, and related support services. Services include residential support (adult foster care/family home provider), REACH Adult Training Program (RAP) and Respite Services. SCL is a home and community based waiver under the Kentucky Medicaid program. SCL allows the person to remain an active member of the community.

Who is Eligible? 

Individuals with a diagnosis of intellectual and developmental disabilities who meet the requirements for residential services in an Intermediate Care Facility for persons with mental retardation (ICF/MR), and who receive Medicaid and meet other Medicaid requirements, are eligible for SCL services. Currently, there is a waiting list to receive an SCL waiver.

Established in 1988, Save the Family Foundation of Arizona is a leading provider of housing, case management and supportive services to more than 650 homeless and impoverished families annually throughout Maricopa County. We work to equip families to overcome underlying issues that lead to homelessness – ensuring stable homes, safe children and strong families because of our efforts.

Our programs complement each family’s goals and include career services, budgeting classes, parenting classes, other life-skills classes, and access to in-house mental health and substance abuse support. We also provide drop-in child care, afterschool and summer programs for children – all focused on halting cycles of homelessness and poverty. Supportive services are also available to families residing in Affordable Rental Movement (ARM) of Save the Family’s affordable housing, and we provide eviction prevention services for families throughout the East Valley.

The Social Development Commission (SDC) has served as a planner, coordinator, and provider of human service programs for low-income individuals and families in Milwaukee County for more than 50 years. Their mission is to empower people with the resources to move beyond poverty. Programs offered by SDC include emergency, career, education, financial, mental health & wellness, nutrition, residential, senior, and youth services.

Southwest Human Development strengthens the foundation Arizona’s children need for a great start in life.

SPAN provides individuals assistance, training, and support for families, youth, and professionals on early childhood, education, health and mental health, human services, disability, transition to adult life, and family-professional partnerships, focusing on families with children and youth at greatest risk due to disability, specialist healthcare needs, race ethnicity, immigrant status, language, socio-economic status, geographic location, etc. SPAN also provides community doula support and advocacy for pregnant African-American and black women to reduce disparities in Black maternal and infant health.

Special Friends, Inc. was organized to promote the general welfare of all people with emotional, physical, and developmental disabilities in Chippewa County. We are a volunteer (no paid staff) agency. The Guidance Center is a not-for-profit Community Mental Health Center with locations serving Flagstaff and surrounding Northern Arizona communities. We provide a full range of services, which include everything from general mental health counseling for everyday stressors, to our inpatient psychiatric hospital for acute psychiatric emergencies. We provide care to all ages, from birth and up. Care managers, therapists, program supports and peer supports work together to provide individualized care to children, families and adults.

Founded in 1977, The Samaritans on Cape Cod and the Islands is a non-sectarian, non-profit volunteer organization whose mission is to end suicide by combating suicide risk conditions and easing the impacts of suicidal activity through fostering caring, connection, resilience, and public understanding.

Samaritan volunteers provide non-judgmental active listening to callers in need on our Crisis Lines, older adults in our Senior Outreach program, suicide loss survivors in our Safe Place support groups,  and in our A Caring Connection program and A Second Chance program for those who have attempted suicide and their families.  In the 45 years since our founding, we have trained over 1,000 Samaritan volunteers at our center in Falmouth and answered more than 600,000 phone calls from people in need.

The Focus on Family and Disability Seminar Series is a forum to educate diverse audiences from students and faculty to service providers, community stakeholders, and family members. The series is offered in conjunction with the Family Support Network.

Program topics include current issues, policies and research, and evidence-based approaches in health, education, and disability.
