Stripe Out in Your Community
Rally Your Community to Show Their Stripes
In-person and virtual events with your community are an effective way to educate and engage community members.
Host a virtual or in-person gathering and invite your peers, neighbors, friends, and family members to learn about rare diseases on Rare Disease Day. Invite 1-2 patient or caregiver speakers to share their stories and encourage everyone to wear stripes!
Set up a table at a local event (from your child’s baseball game to a town hall meeting) or in a high-traffic area in town to sell zebra-striped baked goods and distribute information about rare diseases.
Stripe Out Your Home to raise awareness with zebra-themed door signs, flags, balloons, window and yard signs.
Stripe Out Your Town by asking town administrators to rally the community to stripe out local businesses and sidewalks. If stripes aren’t an option, ask them to light up City Hall or a local monument in the Rare Disease Day colors.
The possibilities are endless!
