About Carol Ann Foundation
The Carol Ann Foundation & International Morquio Organization (CAF & IMO) is a non-profit, voluntary organization dedicated to seeking out people who have Morquio syndrome in order to provide a mutual aid network, act as advocate between patients and their physicians, compile medical information into a database, and pursue funding for education, families, and research. Morquio syndrome (MPS IV) is a mucopolysaccharide storage disease that occurs in two forms, type A and type B. Both forms result in the accumulation in the body and brain of large amounts of a substance called mucopolysaccharide as a result of enzyme deficiencies. The Carol Ann Foundation and International Morquio Organization provide patient networking, education, support groups, and genetic counseling services.
