About DHPS Foundation

DHPS Foundation is a 501C3 nonprofit organization Deoxyhypusine synthase (DHPS) is involved in the synthesis of an unusual amino acid, hypusine, which is found in only a single protein, eukaryotypic translation initiation factor-5A (EIF5A). EIF5A promotes translation elongation, or production of many proteins. There are no known humans with mutations in EIF5A. DHPS Foundation’s mission is to help identify and assist individuals with rare genetic disorders, and to work with interested researchers to develop treatment options and cures for those disorders. Our initial focus is on increasing awareness and understanding of patients with DHPS deficiencies and evaluating potential treatments to address those deficiencies.
