About Hypertrophic Olivary Degeneration Association
The Hypertrophic Olivary Degeneration Association (HODA) was established in 2021 to support patients and families affected by HOD. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization, established in the United States, but serving HOD patients worldwide. Our mission is to provide support to diagnosed patients and their community, share medically vetted and current information with our community, and raise funding to be applied to research into the disease, including but not limited to disease origins, treatments and cures for the devastating diagnosis.
HOD can happen both with and without cause. In many cases, it can be traced back to a brain injury, bleed, tumor, or cavernous malformation that has damaged the Guillain Mollaret triangle. However, some cases are idiopathic, or no known cause. Regardless of how you got here, we welcome you into our organization!
