About Usher III Initiative, Inc

The Usher III Initiative is a non-profit research organization dedicated to finding a cure for Usher syndrome type III, a rare genetic disorder marked by the progressive loss of both hearing and vision. Founded by USH3 patient Cindy Elden and her father, the late Richard Elden, the Initiative has funded collaborative, therapy-directed, academic and industry research efforts that led to the discovery and optimization of BF844, a proprietary small molecule with the potential to treat USH3 due to the CLRN1n48K. The Initiative is preparing to commence phase-1 trials with BF844 in healthy volunteers to assess the safety, tolerability and PK profile of the therapeutic candidate.
