The Piedmont Health Services and Sickle Cell Agency (PHSSCA) is a non-profit community health agency committed to providing a comprehensive array of services to individuals with sickle cell disease, their families, and the community. Founded in 1971 by a group of concerned citizens, PHSSCA continues to improve the quality of life for people with sickle cell disease and their families. The Association offers a variety of educational and support services including sickle cell screening and genetic counseling; educational presentations and health fairs; case management services and home health care; sickle cell clinics; summer enrichment camps; and psychological counseling and support groups. Other unique services include HIV/AIDS Education and Prevention administered through a program called SCOPE (Street & Community Outreach Prevention & Education), and Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention services administered through a program called ETYM (Enriching Tomorrows Young Men).
