About ITP Support Association
The ITP Support Association is a non-profit registered charity founded in 1995. Its aims are to promote the welfare of ITP (idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura) patients, fund research, and collaborate with the medical profession in collecting and disseminating clinical data. Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura is a rare autoimmune bleeding disorder characterized by the abnormally low levels of certain blood cells called platelets, creating a condition known as thrombocytopenia. The association provides patient support and a contact network, organizes annual conventions, and publishes numerous booklets and fact-sheets on ITP and related subjects. It also publishes a quarterly newsletter, The Platelet.
