Bladder Exstrophy Research Foundation

The Bladder Exstrophy Research Foundation is a not for profit 501(c)3 public charity dedicated to raising funds for research related to the cause and treatment of bladder exstrophy, a congenital birth defect. The Foundation also serves as a resource for information on current, ongoing and future research initiatives. In patients in bladder extrophy part of the urinary bladder is present outside the body. Surgical reconstruction is needed, usually through a staged approach. Even with successful surgeries, complications are common. Such complications may include urinary reflux, urinary tract infections, and uterine prolapse.
