American College of Gastroenterology

The American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) was formed in 1932 to advance the scientific study and medical treatment of disorders of the gastrointestinal tract. The College promotes the highest standards in medical education and is guided by its commitment to meeting the needs of clinical gastroenterology practitioners. A gastroenterologist is a physician who specializes in disorders and conditions of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, also called the digestive tract. ACG is comprised of 7,000 members from more than 30 countries. The goals of the College are to advance knowledge of gastrointestinal disease; educate specialists in gastrointestinal disease; represent the interests of the clinician practicing in the field of gastroenterology; ensure quality in patient care; and to promote patient education on gastrointestinal conditions and digestive health.
