Atypical Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (aHUS) Premium & Copay Assistance

NORD’s Atypical Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (aHUS) Patient Assistance Program offers financial support to pay for out-of-pocket healthcare costs that are directly related to the care and treatment of this diagnosis.

Any US citizen or resident of six months or more with a diagnosis of aHUS who meets the financial eligibility criteria (or their caregiver) may apply.

Awards are issued for a calendar year. Patients are encouraged to reapply annually if continued assistance is needed.

Examples of expenses NORD can assist with include:

  • Medical office visit or consult
  • Health insurance premiums, deductibles, and copayments
  • Out-of-pocket cost for medications prescribed by your physician
  • Out-of-pocket costs for lab services or radiological services
  • Physician prescribed supportive therapies such as physical, occupational, speech therapies or nutrition services

NORD also offers an Atypical Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (aHUS) Emergency Relief program that can help patients and caregivers pay for unexpected or emergency non-medical expenses that are essential for daily life.

Examples of expenses NORD can assist with include:

  • The cost of repairs for a car, home, or major appliances
  • Unexpected utility costs or bills that cannot be afforded due to lost wages from time off related to illness or caregiving
  • Other types of emergency requests will be considered on an individual basis
