Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Eye Genetics Clinic: Multi-disciplinary Clinic of Human Genetics and Ophthalmology

Serves children and adolescents with genetic diseases of the eye receive multi-disciplinary care through the Eye Genetics Clinic at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

The Eye Genetics Clinic was established in 2012 to allow patients to see both ophthalmology and genetics in the same day. We found that this combined clinic model improves communication among specialists and families, providing more efficient and holistic care to families. Through a team approach, your child will undergo a thorough evaluation that includes advanced imaging techniques, patient-family education, genetic counseling and testing in order to diagnosis your child’s eye disorder. We evaluate patients with isolated inherited disorders of the eye and genetic syndromes that can affect the eye and other parts of the body. We seek to provide your child and family with a clear pathway to and understanding of diagnosis, management, support resources, and treatment when applicable. We work collaboratively with pediatric retina and neuro-ophthalmology.

Clinic Leads: The Eye Genetics Clinic is led by Dr. Miraldi-Utz (Ophthalmic Genetics), Dr. Anne Slavotinek (Human Genetics), and Dr. Diana Brightman (Genetic Counselor).
