Washington, DC, March 24, 2020–The National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD®) is pleased to welcome Prashant Goel as the new Vice President of Information Technology, based in the Danbury, CT office. Prashant, who joined NORD in February, leads a team of professionals with extensive knowledge of developing scalable enterprise-level systems, portals, and services that process millions of transactions daily across a variety of industries.

The NORD IT team has built a number of complex systems that have included a member enrollment portal and claims processing system for a national payer, a federal adverse event reporting portal for the Department of Health and Human Services, a fraud prevention system that processes over six million records a day employing machine learning, and databases that pull from billions of survey records across more than 100 countries. The team also possesses decades of experience with compliance and regulatory requirements in relevant areas such as HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA, PHI, PCI, and COPPA.

“The technical team at NORD has vast experience, both in length and depth,” said Peter L. Saltonstall, President and CEO of NORD. “Under Prashant’s leadership we will light the way in how technology can be transformative for the rare community.”

Since its founding in 1983, NORD has been innovating to serve the rare community, from creating the RareCare® system to manage over $30 million given annually to support patients’ access to desperately needed medical care and treatments, to pioneering the IAMRARE™ research study platform, built with the challenges of rare disease data collection in mind. NORD has seen firsthand the promise of technology in meeting the needs of rare disease patients and will continue to be at the forefront of realizing the potential of new tools that end the diagnostic odyssey, affect new cures and treatments for patients, and bring our community together.

Prashant brings over 23 years of experience leading custom software development projects and teams. He has a Bachelor of Science in Statistics and a Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Science from the University of Delhi, as well as a Post Graduate Diploma in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence from Columbia University’s Fu Foundation School of Engineering. Prior to joining NORD, he led the data quality and fraud prevention teams at Dynata/Imperium as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. Before Dynata, Prashant held leadership positions at organizations including United HealthCare, Adaptive Marketing and Wipro.
