About Center for Peripheral Neuropathy

The Center for Peripheral Neuropathy was established in 2001 as a part of the University of Chicago’s Division of Biological Sciences. It is dedicated to educating the public and healthcare providers about peripheral neuropathy, a family of disorders caused when nerves are damaged or destroyed and can’t send messages from the brain and spinal cord to the muscles, skin, and other parts of the body. Both basic and clinical research is conducted at the center to identify the causes and potential cures for these disorders. Treatment for peripheral neuropathies is also provided at the center.
