About Kennedy’s Disease Association
The Kennedy’s Disease Association is a non-profit corporation established in 2000 that is staffed entirely by volunteers, all of whom are Kennedy’s disease patients, carriers, spouses, caregivers, family members or friends. The goals of the association include sharing information about Kennedy’s disease with those who seek it, creating a support system for those living with Kennedy’s disease, increasing public awareness of this disease and its effects upon families, raising funds for research, and increasing awareness of Kennedy’s disease in the medical community. Kennedy’s disease is a genetic disorder that causes the death of nerve cells in the spinal cord and brainstem. It usually first appears between the ages of 30 and 50, mostly among men.
