About Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association (CMTA)
Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association (CMTA) is a 501(c)(3) national voluntary health organization that functions as an educational resource for people with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, their families, medical professionals, the educational community, and the general public. Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease is a genetic neurological disorder characterized by weakness and atrophy of muscles first in the legs and, later, in the arms and hands. Founded by patients in 1983, the vision of the CMTA has always been a “A World Without CMT” and we will accomplish this mission by accelerating research and empowering patients. We are devoted to driving the development of new drugs to treat CMT, meeting the needs of patients with CMT, and accelerating research for a cure.
