Representative Sarah Davis is a dedicated champion of the rare disease community in her home state of Texas. She is currently serving her fifth term as the State Representative for Texas House District 134, located in Houston, Texas. In Representative Davis’ role as Chair of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Health and Human Services (Article II), she has spearheaded legislation to improve Texas’ Medicaid services, especially for children with special needs. This year alone, Representative Davis has authored House Bill 2453, a bill to improve oversight and function of Texas’ Medicaid managed care program, House Bill 12, a bill to remove prior authorization requirements from early child intervention services, and House Bill 1111, a bill to expand the availability of telehealth services for maternal and newborn care.
Additionally, Representative Davis has been a great ally to the Texas Rare Action Network. Specifically, she is working with the Texas Rare Action Network to push for the creation of a rare disease advisory council, which would further integrate the perspective of the rare disease community into state governance. Further, Representative Davis’ dedication to improving health care and serving her constituency is unmatched.
