MdDS Foundation

Established in 2007, the MdDS Balance Disorder Foundation (MdDS Foundation) is an all-volunteer, non-profit patient advocacy organization. The Foundation’s mission is to promote awareness, education and research on the neurological disorder Mal de Debarquement Syndrome. MdDS is characterized by persistent sensations of rocking, swaying, bobbing and pulling in the absence of actual motion. It often develops following a cruise or other motion experience, with symptoms lasting for months to years.
Funds acquired by the Foundation are used to inform medical professionals, patients and the public, and to support research toward treatments and a cure for MdDS. We support evidence-based research and studies that produce fact-based findings and maintain a list of peer-reviewed biomedical literature on our website. Both professionals and the general public can find useful resources at mddsfoundation.org/resources such as downloadable and printable pamphlets, MdDS Diagnostic Criteria, and the MdDS Symptom Severity Scale.
