Seven new videos have been added to the NORD Rare Disease Video Library, a unique educational resource launched earlier this summer. The library features videos on rare diseases and related topics for patients, caregivers, medical students and professionals.
The seven new videos are part of a series of short, animated, disease-specific videos for patient and professional education. This major expansion of the library was made possible by a donation from Sanofi U.S., with NORD and independent medical experts solely responsible for the content.
“NORD has long been a leader in providing educational content for patients, caregivers, students and professionals. Our Rare Disease Database is one of the most visited features of our website. With today’s awareness that video is a powerful teaching tool, and to accommodate different learning styles, we are happy to be able to provide these additional educational resources, created with the assistance of leading rare disease medical experts,” said Sika Dunyoh, Director of Education Programs for NORD.
The new videos cover the following rare diseases:
- Fabry disease
- Gaucher disease
- Metachromatic leukodystrophy
- Mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) type I
- Niemann-Pick disease types A & B
- Pompe disease
- Tay-Sachs disease
In each case, NORD worked with noted medical experts to ensure accuracy of the content. Also, NORD member organizations are referenced for additional disease-specific information on the videos.
NORD’s Rare Disease Video Library was launched in June 2019. The section featuring disease-specific videos can be found here.
Videos are made possible by individual donations, educational grants and sponsorship. Additional information is available here.
