The American Vitiligo Research Foundation, Inc., (AVRF), a voluntary 501(c)3 organization, provides public awareness about vitiligo through dedicated work, education and counseling. AVRF seeks to make a difference to those afflicted by this disease, focusing on children and families affected by vitiligo. Vitiligo is a dermatological condition characterized by the appearance of white patches on the skin on different parts of the body as a result of the destruction of the cells that make pigment. AVRF works toward its mission through services such as patient networking and referrals.
