The Aphasia Hope Foundation (AHF) began in 1997 as the result of a personal experience of an aphasia survivor and his caregivers. Even after consulting with professionals and researching available literature, they found very little helpful information regarding aphasia. Today, the foundation has a twofold mission: to promote research into the prevention and cure of aphasia and to ensure that all survivors of aphasia and their caregivers are aware of, and have access to, the best possible treatments. Aphasia is a speech and language difficulty that results from a stroke, head injury, or other neurological condition. Many aphasia survivors have problems reading, writing, and calculating, as well. The AHF is continually striving for the accomplishment of its mission through its three core areas: research, education, and advocacy.
