The Associazione Italiana Mucopolisaccaridosi (AIM) is a non-profit, self-help organization dedicated to providing support and information on mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) and related diseases to Italian families and professionals. The mucopolysaccharidoses, mucolipidoses (ML), and other related disorders are rare inherited diseases in which the body is deficient in certain enzymes. As a result, progressive damage occurs as complex sugars and/or fats accumulate in various tissues of the body. Established in 1991, the organization hosts conferences, funds research, and provides educational materials.
