About Canadian Ectodermal Dysplasia Syndromes Association
Ectodermal dysplasias are a large group of inherited disorders that result in abnormal development of the skin, hair, teeth, nails and glands together or in combination. To date, more than 150 distinct disorders have been described but due to the variance in genetic conditions, there are likely many more types of EDS. The Canadian Ectodermal Dysplasias Syndromes Association (CEDSA) was established in April 2010 to answer a need for information and services geared to Canadians and their families on national funding and resources.
Our Mission
To enhance the quality of life of those impacted by ectodermal dysplasias through education, service, and support while serving as a national information and support resource.
Our Vision
The Canadian Ectodermal Dysplasias Syndromes Association (CEDSA) will act as the national information and resource centre for provincial and territorial funding programs, medical expertise, ongoing research, and support groups. Working with established ectodermal dysplasia associations around the world, CEDSA will support research towards a cure, raise awareness of EDS and connect children, youth, family and friends seeking support and a place to share information.
