The Children's Fund for Glycogen Storage Disease Research (CFGSDR) is committed to funding research so that children born with glycogen storage disease type I (GSD1) will benefit from early detection, treatment and an eventual cure. It is a public, non-profit, 501(c) 3 foundation established in April of 2002 to make a difference in the lives of children and families affected by GSD1. This disease, also known as Von Gierke disease, is a hereditary metabolic disorder caused by the inborn lack of the enzyme glucose-6-phosphatase. Parents, families, run the foundation and friends of children affected by this disease. All fundraising and administration is done on a voluntary basis.
