About Familial Dysautonomia Foundation, Inc.

The Familial Dysautonomia Foundation is a national, non-profit organization founded in 1951 by parents of children with familial dysautonomia, a rare genetic disorder characterized by dysfunction of the sensory and autonomic nervous systems. The FD Foundation supports ongoing medical research and clinical care of people with this disorder by maintaining the Dysautonomia Treatment Center at NYU Langone Medical Center in New York City. The Foundation partners with clinical programs at Hadassah and Sheba Tel Hashomer Hospitals in Israel and collaborates with international chapters in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Israel. The Foundation is dedicated to funding medical research to identify effective treatments for FD as well as supporting programs and services that sustain community and enhance quality of life for people living with the disorder.
