The First Candle-SIDS Alliance (FCSIDSA) exists to ensure the elimination of sudden infant death syndrome through medical research and education, while providing support to those affected by an infant death. It is a national, non-profit voluntary health organization that unites families, caregivers, health professionals and scientists with government, business and community service groups. As a sponsor of the national Back to Sleep Campaign, the SIDS Alliance supplies information on SIDS to new and expectant parents and the general public via a nationwide 24-hour, toll free hotline and its web site. It works closely with the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development to advocate for a coordinated research agenda for the nation.
