The Lactic Acidosis Support Trust is a non-profit voluntary health organization located in the United Kingdom. Established in 1993, the trust works toward its goal of promoting research into the cause, treatment, and prenatal diagnosis of lactic acidosis and mitochondrial cytopathies. It provides counseling, advice, and support to parents and caregivers of children with these rare conditions; and encourages healthcare professionals to become specialists in this field of medicine. The trust seeks to provide information to parents or other relatives on a 24-hour basis and to provide physicians with financial support and grants to further their research. Fund-raising events include dances, coffee mornings, and other sponsored activities. The Lactic Acidosis Support Trust produces several educational materials including pamphlets, brochures, and a newsletter.
