About M. D. Anderson Cancer Center Hereditary Colorectal Cancer Registry

The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center Hereditary Colorectal Cancer Registry is dedicated to evaluating families in which there is a suspected or confirmed risk of a hereditary colorectal cancer syndrome. Its staff members make arrangements to obtain necessary risk assessment, tests, procedures, or treatments at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Genetic testing and counseling are performed on appropriate families in order to identify persons at high risk for hereditary colorectal cancer. Individuals and their family members can also be evaluated for eligibility for other ongoing studies such as chemoprevention and psychosocial studies. Educational materials include a periodic newsletter and guide to familial adenomatous polyposis and hereditary non-polyposis colon cancer. Program activities include genetic counseling, educational programs, and referrals.
