The Muscular Dystrophy Association of Kosovo is a non-profit organization whose mission is to fight discrimination against people with Duchenne muscular dystrophy and to encourage better integration of these people into society and the workplace . It aims to accomplish this with seminars and through a campaign in the media. Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a rare muscle disorder that is characterized by weakness and wasting (atrophy) of the muscles of the pelvic area followed by the involvement of the shoulder muscles. As the disease progresses, muscle weakness and atrophy spread to affect the trunk and forearms and gradually progress to involve additional muscles of the body.
