About National Autistic Society

The National Autistic Society is a non-profit support organization, which exists to champion the rights and interests of all people with autism in the UK and to ensure that they and their families receive quality services appropriate to their needs. It has developed a range of educational and support services; runs schools and adult centres; offers families and caretakers information, advice and support; works to improve awareness of autism; offers a diagnostic and assessment service; and provides training and promotes research. Activities include: a National Autism Helpline for parents, carertakers, families and people with autism; an Information Centre for interested professionals, students, general public that draw on a research database covering all aspects of autism (including Asperger’s syndrome and pervasive developmental disorder); publication and distribution of a wide range of literature on autism (including the journal, “Communication”).
