About National CMV (Cytomegalovirus) Foundation

The National CMV Foundation (NCMVF) is a non-profit organization, dedicated to preventing pregnancy loss, childhood death, and disability due to congenital CMV (cCMV). NCMVF’s vision is to eliminate cCMV in the United States for the next generation. cCMV is the most common viral infection, and the leading non-genetic cause of hearing loss, that infants are born with in the United States. Every pregnant woman is at risk of acquiring CMV. And only 9% of women know about it. 1 in 200 children are born with cCMV each year, and1 in 5 of those will have serious health complications such as hearing loss, visual impairment, developmental delays, seizures, etc.
